Canon takes stock of removal requests

The OEM has released its counts of Amazon removal. Since it last released a count in July it took down a further 2,656 listings from Amazon in European countries and 400 from Amazon Canada and Amazon US.

Canon Inc. announced that in about the third quarter of 2019, it has used the Amazon Reporting Tool, letters of inquiry, and/or information letters to successfully remove 2,656 listings from Amazon in Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and France.

Since June 2018, the total number of listings removed is 3,844. The listings offered third-party laser toner cartridges from vendors which Canon believes infringed one or more of European Patent No. 2 087 407 and European Patent No. 1 977 289.

Canon also announced that in about the third quarter of 2019, it has used Amazon takedown procedures to report infringement based on 400 listings, all of which now have been removed from Amazon in Canada and the United States of America.

Since June 2018, the total number of listings removed is 522. The listings offered third-party laser toner cartridges from vendors which Canon believes infringed one or more of US Patent No. 8,280,278, US Patent No. 8,630,564, US Patent No. 8,682,215, US Patent No. 8,688,008, US Patent No. 8,676,090, US Patent No. 8,588,646, US Patent No. 9,581,958, Canadian Patent No. 2,635,791 and Canadian Patent No. 2,910,527.

Canon said it “respects the intellectual property rights of others and will continue to enforce its own intellectual property rights.”
