Konica Minolta achieves green goal

The company has achieved its goal of sourcing 100% renewable electricity in Its MFP production site in China.

Konica Minolta, Inc. announced that one of its MFP production sites in China, Konica Minolta Business Technologies (WUXI) Co., Ltd. (BMWX) in Jiangsu province, has achieved its goal of getting 100% of the electricity it uses from renewable sources.

A manufacturer of Konica Minolta’s main products, multi-functional peripherals (MFPs) and digital printing systems, BMWX was certified as a Clean Production Company by Wuxi City in 2017, making the company a leader in environmental stewardship in China.

BMWX installed a solar power generation system, covering an area of 25,000m2 and with a generating capacity of 1.7 MW, on 1 January 2020, enabling the company to get approx. 16% of its electricity requirement from solar power.

Additionally, starting from 1 January 2020, BMWX shifted to green power certified sources to meet the rest of its electricity needs.

For Konica Minolta, BMWX is the second production site to achieve the goal of sourcing 100% of its electricity from renewable sources, following another MFP production site in China, Konica Minolta Business Technologies (DONGGUAN) Co., Ltd., which achieved this goal in January 2019.
