Toshiba announced $110,000 (€98,467) for 18 innovative classroom STEM projects.
The Toshiba America Foundation (TAF) announced nearly $110,000 (€98,467) in new grants for 18 innovative classroom STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematic) projects in grades 6-12.
Among these are grants for students to learn and to address community issues such as anatomy, climate change, civil engineering, physics, and zoology. All novel ways to utilise STEM in the classroom in order to give back to the community and enrich next generations. For example, students at Ocean Bay Middle School in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina will be using tools and robotics equipment purchased with Toshiba funds to experiment and learn about artificial intelligence concepts such as facial recognition, object avoidance, and object following.
“Science, technology, engineering and mathematics occupations play a key role in the sustained growth and stability of the US economy. STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators,” said TAF President, John Anderson. “The grants make the STEM classroom more exciting for both teachers and students.”
