Epson ReadyInk, not so ready?

Hardly a day goes by without a consumer complaint about the HP Instant Ink programme. So today we got two complaints, one about HP and, a first, one about the Epson ReadyInk programme.

The Epson ReadyInk is a pay-as-you-go, hassle-free print service from your local retailer or reseller and supplies genuine ink cartridges before your ink runs out.

Here is how it works: You buy a ReadyInk enabled printer and sign up to ReadyInk on the website with your email and delivery address and your payment details. The ReadyInk technology lets you know that you are going to need a new cartridge soon and you get a prompt to purchase, confirm the order and your ink is delivered.

Except when it is not. Joe from Delaware contacted our help desk today saying “My friend bought a brand new Epson printer she has signed up with your ink program and she has not received her ink yet. I talked her into it.” [She] is the type of person that gets very upset and don’t know what to do because she’s running out of ink and she applied and paid for your program. She has tried several times to call but keeps getting a robot with no heartbeat. Please contact her [we have removed the contact details].

As we all know ReadyInk is about convenience and you don’t need to keep spare cartridges in the office or home and will save you the time and trouble of a trip to the store or waiting buying online and waiting for delivery.

It is not cheap; you are buying Epson consumables so surely ReadyInk has to work perfectly and at the prices Epson charge, a live person to answer the phone is a minimum.

Our advice to Joe and his friend was to download the Nubeprint app to check the printer ink levels and know how much life is left in the cartridges and to shop around for the best deals from a local dealer.

If anyone from Epson would like joe and his friends contact details, please get in touch at news@therecycler.com.
