Fuji Xerox’s New Zealand operations has had print volumes drop by 85% caused by the COVID-19 effects, which might end in about 100 job losses at the company.

Stuff reports that Fuji Xerox Managing Director, Peter Thomas has told staff at its New Zealand operation to expect about 100 jobs to be lost, caused by impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. Reportedly Fuji Xerox New Zealand in this difficult time saw its print volumes drop by 85%. Job losses are expected to be across the New Zealand operation as well as newly acquired CSG.

Stuff reported that Thomas addressed staff to inform about the potential job losses and said: “This is a difficult and stressful time for all our staff. We will be providing those directly affected by the proposal with additional support throughout this process. Like all other New Zealand companies our operating and economic landscape has shifted rapidly and dramatically. During the Covid-19 lockdown, our print volumes declined by up to 85 per cent.”

“This will eventually bounce back somewhat as more companies return to their offices, but we do not believe that print volumes will ever recover to pre-covid levels,” he added.

Fuji Xerox New Zealand took measures during the lockdown period and received $3.7 million (US$2.3 million/ €2.09 million) from the Government wage subsidy for its 534 staff. Cost reduction and acceleration of the integration of CSG and CodeBlue are also underway.
