A backup and recovery service, helping organisations prevent data loss, through errors, malicious internal breaches, or ransomware attacks.

Kyocera UK launched a new Software as a Service (SaaS) back-up and recovery solution called Kyocera Protect. This offering is the latest in the company’s broad portfolio of Comprehensive Services covering ICT, Unified Communications and Content Services.

Thousands of organisations across the UK recently accelerated their remote and agile working strategies in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The subsequent massive upturn in the use of SaaS tools such as G-Suite and Microsoft Teams, as companies sought quick ways to keep their people working, and their customers happy, resulted in many relying on native back up capabilities within these tools.

However, this is not sufficient to protect the data that businesses rely on. A recent report from IDC stated that “1/3 of businesses report losing data stored in cloud-based applications. This is generally as a result of limited data retention by SaaS vendors.”

Kyocera said that a more robust backup and recovery strategy is needed to prevent data loss, for example as a result of errors, malicious internal breaches, or ransomware attacks.  Organisations need to maintain data compliance, whilst also ensuring they avoid unnecessary costs backing up non-essential data.

Kyocera Protect is a fully managed service designed to make backing up and restoring Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) data quick, easy, and cost effective, without compromising on data integrity and compliance.

Kyocera CEO Rod Tonna-Barthet commented: “As more and more teams work remotely, increasing amounts of data, often including sensitive information, are being uploaded and shared to SaaS platforms such as Microsoft 365 and the Google suite of products. Most organisations naturally assume that this data is being backed up by those platform providers but the reality, however, is that the responsibility sits firmly with the organisation itself.”

Kyocera Protect offers a whole host of benefits including the peace of mind that data can easily be restored with full integrity, enabling new, flexible, and remote ways of working to support future business strategies.

The service supports GDPR compliance and reduces the risk of financial penalty, loss of brand reputation, or revenue resulting from a breach.
