Employees of Toshiba America, Inc. raise more than $22,000 (€18,725) to support charities for COVID-19 relief.

The company said that in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the burden it is placing on so many Americans, 30 employees of Toshiba America, Inc. have raised $ 22,027 (€18,747) to support charities. The funds will be distributed to City Harvest of New York City and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, CA, two locations hard hit by COVID-19 and where the majority of these employees work, explained Toshiba.

Toshiba America, Inc., held a charity drive from 1 July through to 15 July encouraging employees to participate in an act of collective generosity that benefits local communities and improves the lives of others. Employees were permitted to donate up to 40 hours of paid time off (PTO) that was converted to a cash equivalent, or paycheck deductions and one-time donations towards the programme.

Ayumi Wada, Toshiba America, Inc. Chairwoman & CEO, said: “I am very proud of our employees for stepping up and supporting this initiative that will benefit our communities, who now more than ever need assistance, and I’m pleased to announce that the company will also contribute an additional $5,000 (€4,256) to this employee-led fundraising programme.”
