Canon latest victim of ransomware attack

Only last month Xerox was reportedly a victim of a ransomware attack, now Canon seems to have been a victim of a similar attack.

Bleeping Computer reports that is was told by Maze about the attack. Stolen were 10TB of data as part of Maze’s attack according to the report. As part of the ransomware attack, the data has been encrypted and Canon has been contacted to pay to receive the encryption key to restore the data and for Maze not to release the data on a public site.

Victims of this gang include Xerox, LG Electronics, US chipmaker MaxLinear, Threadstone Advisors LLP, US military contractor Westech and the ST Engineering group and more.
