The Recycler is saddened to report the passing Environmental Business Products Managing Director, Aleem Hosein, at the age of 46 from a COVID related illness.

Twenty-seven years ago, Aleem left university with a business degree, and went from a telesales job to Managing Director at Environmental Business Products (EBP) and became one of the most trusted, admired and respected people in our industry.

Aleem became MD in 2009 and continued to run Europe’s longest established and largest collector and remanufacturer of inkjet cartridges. At the time The Recycler named EBP as the number one recycler of inkjet cartridges in the world, but he always had an eye for an opportunity.

In 2015 EBP launched a range of 3D printers and ever the sales evangelist, entered the growing 3D market. In 2016, EBP signed a three year deal with Polaroid at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas to become the “sole manufacturer of the Polaroid ModelSmart 250S 3D printer and consumables range” with “exclusivity in 15 European markets.”

In 2018 Aleem led the acquisition of German ink manufacturer OCP GmbH out of administration and in 2019 completed the acquisition of German ink supplier Compedo GmbH to become a major player in the office inks market.

Pat Stead, CEO at EBP and a long-time friend of Aleem said “that his passing leaves a massive hole in the business, the industry and all our lives. Our loss is as unbearable as it is unfathomable. We’re devastated.”

Ken Lalley, CEO of Static Control Components and a friend of Aleem’s said “It was with great sadness that I heard my friend Aleem passed on Saturday. I considered him to be a true leader and icon in our industry, taken at such a young age. My thoughts and sincere condolences are with Reeta, the boys and all his family, friends and colleagues.”

Hosein died on Saturday 30th January after a short battle with COVID-19 and follow on complications.  He was a man of many talents with a great eye for a deal and was passionate in everything he did and as and anyone who crossed his path found his natural energy irresistible. He is survived by his wife Reeta and two sons.

The family thank everyone for their love and support and request privacy at this devastating time.
