Ricoh has been positioned among the top three companies featured in IDC’s European Technology for Sustainability and Social Impact Index Market Maturity Report.

The report provides a detailed comparison of the 29 most significant vendors representing the IT product manufacturing industry. The framework applied quantifies over 200 parameters across three pillars: Technology Vendor Performance, Technology as an Enabler, and Technology for Good.

IDC highlights Ricoh’s main strengths in each pillar as:

  • Technology Vendor Performance: Governance & Operational Sustainability
Setting clear Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targets, that are linked to Ricoh’s global strategy, based on a robust environmental reporting tool to keep track of progress at local offices across the region.
  • Technology as an Enabler: Monetization & Product Energy Efficiency
Providing a consultancy-based sustainability offering such as the Sustainability Optimisation Programme which complements a diverse product and services portfolio.
  • Technology for Good: Solutions for Good
Using Ricoh’s own technological solutions to raise funds and awareness of dementia research through its partnership with Alzheimer’s Research UK.

The report also notes Ricoh’s key initiatives covering customer trust and privacy, sustainability-related training and education, employee safety and wellbeing, and workforce empowerment.

Nicola Downing, COO, Ricoh Europe, said: “We believe Ricoh has been recognised based on our unwavering commitment to achieving ESG targets and continually challenging ourselves to drive the sustainability agenda. We have revised our 2030 global greenhouse gas reduction target from 30% to 63%, compared to our 2015 baseline year – a sign that we will keep pushing the boundaries for the good of both people and planet. I am extremely proud of our ongoing achievements and the role we play in helping customers to drive environmental responsibility within their operation and adopt the mindset of always reducing, reusing, and recycling wherever possible.”

Vladimir Kroa, Associate Vice President, IDC, commented: “Ricoh’s strong performance against IDC’s sustainability framework stems from a well-balanced showing across all three main pillars. This quantitative measurement is a testimony to Ricoh’s overall ESG strategy which is linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and embedded into their management strategies.”
