Respo WEEE Association starts cartridge collection in Romania

The Association has started a cartridge collection programme in Romania combined with an end user information campaign about WEEE.

Printer cartridges are WEEE and must be disposed of correctly, but as Respo WEEE explains that in Romania there are still problems because the cartridges get thrown away in household waste rather than recycled as WEEE.

“The solution is for the population to be properly informed and to learn responsible behaviour, so as to limit as much as possible the pollution of nature, but also the waste of components that can be recycled and used for the production of other products, reducing the need to exploit the planet for new resources,” said Pocol Cristian, President of the Respo WEEE Association.

The Respo WEEE Association has developed a series of specific boxes that can be located nearby each printer. The Association has also put in place a complete collection system to transport them to a special location for proper treatment. Boxes can be ordered free from www.respo.ro.

The Respo WEEE Association was established in June 2019, with the aim of taking over the legal responsibility of manufacturers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment. Composed of professionals with decades of experience in the field of WEEE management, the organization has the mission to operate responding to the current needs of the market and to bring sustainable and fair solutions to its members. The Respo WEEE Association has currently 200 contracts with manufacturers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment.
