Oman targets low-income households to create 250 jobs in the IT repair sector and based in commercial centres.
The Oman government, through the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs launched the initiative which aims to employ 250 citizens in the IT repair sector and specialising in mobile phone repair. The Times of Oman reports.
The project targets low-income families (eligible for zakat and social security) in cooperation with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and a number of private sector institutions.
The Ministry of Labour said: “This initiative aims to employ 250 citizens in the field of mobile phone repair in commercial centres. The Ministry of Labour will subsidise part of the salaries of those eligible for the initiative by RO 200 (€440 / $520) for a period of two years, in order to encourage partnership between the public and private sectors, create job opportunities for Omanis, and qualify national cadres to contribute effectively to achieving sustainable development.”
