Canon Inc. held its corporate strategy conference 2022 on 7 March, outlining the company’s growth strategy and ambitions.

In his presentation, Fujio Mitarai, Chairman & CEO outlined that the company’s growth strategy for the printing segment is to become the global #1 in office and home printing. To achieve this, the company is looking at strengthening its price competitiveness by consolidating product platforms and providing printing solutions that align with the digitalisation era. Canon is aiming for sales growth of around 4-5% a year for its printing segment.

Mitarai said in its presentation: “Going forward, we will further raise our price competitiveness, pursuing cost reduction through various measures, including the consolidation of product platforms, production automation, and in-house production. We will also use the cloud to centrally connect to our MIF, including inkjet printers, to provide smart services for predictive maintenance, failure diagnosis, and repair. We will also offer other printing solutions in response to the era of digital transformation. We will increase our market share and aim to become the world’s No. 1 office and home printing company.”
