Sharp releases financial results for FY2021

The company has released consolidated financial results for fiscal year 2021, slightly missing its forecasted net sales.

For the fiscal year 2021 Sharp recorded net sales of ¥2,495.5 billion ($19.42 billion/ €18.67 billion), a year-on-year increase of 2.9%. Operating profit in the saw a small increase year-on-year of 1.9% at ¥84.7 billion ($659 million/ €634 million).

Net sales for the 8K Ecosystem segment, which includes Sharp’s printers, were ¥567.6 billion ($4.42 billion/ €4.25 billion), a 15.1% increase year-on-year. Operating profits for the segment soared with a 60.8% year-on-year increase at ¥24.9 billion ($194 million/ €186 million).

Sharp said that it saw growth of its MFP business in the Americas, Europe and Japan although it felt an impact with logistics bottlenecks for shipments to Europe and the Americas. The company saw recovery in print volumes as people returned to offices. Operating profits in the 8K Ecosystem segment was impacted though by rising semiconductor and raw materials prices as well as an increase in logistics costs.
