Sharp sales up 3.3% YoY

The company has released its latest consolidated financial results for the first half and second quarter of fiscal year 2022.

For the first half Sharp recorded net sales of ¥1,257 billion ($8.63 billion/ €8.81 billion) a 3.3% increase year-on-year (YoY). But operating profits were affected by the weakening of the yen and resulted in a decrease of 93.8%, to ¥2.4 billion ($16.24 million/ €16.59 million).

Net sales in the first half year for the 8K Ecosystem segment, which includes Sharp’s printers, were up 7% year-on-year, at ¥295.4 billion ($2 billion/ €2.04 billion).

Net sales for the second quarter were up 14.7% year-on-year at ¥695.8 billion ($4.71 billion/ €4.81 billion). For the period the 8K Ecosystem segment recorded net sales of ¥155.6 billion ($1 billion/ €1.1 billion), up 12.3% year-on-year.

Sharp said that MFP business rose substantially in Europe, the Americas, Japan and other regions and that its smart office business saw significant growth.
