On test: the Epson ET-5150

Can you test this printer for me please?

It is not every day we get a call asking us to test a printer, but we did just before Christmas we agreed the project details and the printers arrived last week (4th January) and a very excited TG (our tech guru), is now clearing space to set up the test area. The paper and consumables should arrive next week.

The two printers in question are identical Epson EcoTank ET-5150 3-in-1 Ink multifunction device (copier, scanner, printer, A4, ADF, duplex, WiFi, ethernet, display, USB 2.0), and a large ink tank. They have been shortlisted to replace several (100+) HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP devices that HP retired a while ago.

The organisation wants us to run the same tests on both printers. A combination of printing standard pages, scanning and copying and checking for faults and errors on both printers. The only difference will be that one printer will use OEM inks and the second printer will use ink produced by a leading aftermarket brand.

When the testing is finished and submitted the report, we will do a quick write up to let you know how we got on from unpacking, setting up and running the tests on the printer.
