Toshiba Tec responds to vulnerability

The company posted a response to a vulnerability in the “Web Browser Configuration” function installed in some its digital multi-function peripherals.

A vulnerability has been identified in the “Web Browser Configuration” function of some of our multi-function peripherals. The company said that this issue does not result in the leakage of information from the product to outside parties.

The vulnerability affects Toshiba Tec’s e-STUDIO 301DN/ 302DNF devices which were sold in the Chinese market. The vulnerability identification number is JVNVU#93767756 and results in that the product reboots when a specific operation is performed on the print server setting screen in the web browser configuration function.

Toshiba Tec is advising to either update the units software or as a work around when connecting to the Internet, connect to a network protected through a firewall as described in the manual.

This vulnerability was reported by Mr. Darren Johnson lived in Australia.

Toshiba Tec added: “Thanks for this report and for the progress he has made in addressing this issue.”
