Steve Moeller has been named Kyocera Top Technician 2017, coming first in a three-stage competition which began in July.

As the Dubois County Herald reveals, Moeller of Hoosier Business Machines in Jasper has been dubbed Kyocera’s Top Technician for 2017, beating the company’s 4000 other US technicians to first place.

HBM technician, Jeff Horney, came in second in the Chicago regional competition.

The Kyocera Technical Service Awards competition kicked off in July with an online test “of overall proficiency” and company-specific expertise, “including installation, preventative maintenance, and trouble-shooting.” The best performers then went on to compete “in one of five on-site regional finals.”

After placing top in the regional competition, Moeller went on to the National Training Centre in Dallas, competing in a full day’s worth of challenges “covering any technical aspect on any Kyocera device.”

As a result of his win, he, along with other winners from across the globe, will be granted an all-expenses paid trip to Japan and Vietnam, with an itinerary that includes tours of Kyocera facilities in both countries.
