Ricoh publishes latest financial results

The Japanese OEM has become the latest company to release its figures from the current fiscal year.

Ricoh has published its consolidated financial results for the first three months of the current financial year.

The results show that the OEM’s total sales have increased, now reaching ¥1.5 trillion ($13.6 billion/€10.9 billion), a rise of 3.2 percent from the first nine months of the previous financial year, leading up to December 2016.

Its operating profits have also risen, from ¥28.5 billion ($259.3 million/€207.5 million) to ¥48 billion ($436.8 million/€349.6 million), an increase of 68.1 percent, and good news for the company, whose 2016 equivalency was 66.6 percent down on the year before.

Ricoh also saw a substantial climb in its comprehensive income, from ¥12 billion ($109.2 million/€87.4 million) from March to December 2016, to ¥67.6 billion ($615.1 million/€492.3 million) in the same period in 2017, an enormous rise of 461.6 percent.

However, specifically looking at the company’s office printing segment, there was a small 1 percent drop in sales, from ¥858.1 billion ($7.8 billion/€6.2 billion) to ¥849.2 billion ($7.7 billion/€6.1 billion); for the third quarter alone, however, sales increased from ¥287.5 billion ($2.61 billion/€2.09 billion) in the third quarter of 2016, to ¥289.8 billion ($2.63 billion/€2.11 billion) in the equivalent period of 2017 – a difference of 0.8 percent. Office printing continues to account for the majority of the OEM’s sales, at 56 percent, slightly down from 58.4 percent in 2016.
