The OEMs were amongst the winners at the 2018 Awards from equipment tester DataMaster Lab.

DataMaster Lab has announced its 2018 Awards for Office Print Quality, given to A3/Ledger MFPs delivering “excellent resolution and contrast, as well as high quality gradients, solids, and small characters.”

Ricoh’s MP-C4505ex series was named the winner in the 40-49ppm segment, beating Konica Minolta’s bizhub C458 and Sharp’s MX-4060N into second and third place, respectively.

In the 30-39ppm category, Toshiba took the first place, with its e-Studio 3505AC, whilst Xerox’s VersaLink C7030 came second, and OKI’s MC873dn came third.

Finally, in the 20-29ppm class, it was a similar 1-2-3, with Toshiba again taking gold for the e-Studio 2505AC, with Xerox and OKI again in second and third – for the VersaLink C7025 and the MC853dn, respectively.

“The 2018 Awards are the first fruit of a year-long review of our Evaluation processes,” DataMaster Lab’s Technical Director, Edward Bilson, said. “They are all based purely on our test results. All test results are published to our subscribers, so everyone can see that they are both independent and credible. As such they might differ from other industry awards. You can rely on ours.”

He added: “We test productivity in real-world scenarios – we go a lot further than the ISO tests do. We test print quality, and our test engineers – who test all the brand’s machines – assess how easy the machines are to use.”

DataMaster Lab has been testing printing equipment since 2009; since then, it has carried out over 10,000 individual tests on 350 machines.
