HP is shipping printers with the cartridge protection set to on which permanently disables the cartridge for use in all printers, except the original printer the cartridge was installed in.

The Recycler is aware that some HP Envy 4520, OfficeJet 3830 & OfficeJet 4650 printers are being shipped in the US with the cartridge protection set to on which permanently disables the cartridge for use in all printers.  A recent test purchase carried out in California revealed that 12% of the printers purchased had the cartridge protection set to ON.

When the cartridge protection is set to on it will permanently disable the cartridge for use in all printers, except the original printer the cartridge was installed in, making the cartridge unsuitable for remanufacturing.

The HP63 cartridge is one of the top selling cartridges a very popular cartridge and is used seventeen models manufactured between 2014 and 2016. The models are: HP DeskJet 1110, 1111, 1112, 2130, 2132, 3630, 3632, 3633 and 3634 Printers. The HP ENVY 4512, 4520 and 4522 Printers. The HP Officejet 3830, 3833, 4650, 4652 and 4655 Printers.
