Epson looking to Thailand growth

The OEM’s Thai division is forecasting a successful future, with a firm focus on inkjet.

Epson Thailand’s General Manager Yunyong Muneemongkoltorn has said that the OEM will be focussing on inkjet printers, projectors and robotics as it aims for 7 percent growth in the 2018 fiscal year, The Nation reports. Muneemongkoltorn explained this was partly motivated by the increasing trend towards inkjet printers, due to their low running costs and high reliability, as well as their productivity and environmental record.

The OEM plans to launch new inkjet printers in order to capture the low-end and small office, mid-range, and high-end market segments, believing that inkjet printing will be the office standard by 2020, and forecasting that it will occupy 78 percent of the Thai market.

Muneemongkoltorn also forecast that in total, the Thai printer market in 2018 would be worth ?15 billion ($477 million /€386 million). Last year, Epson’s market share for inkjet printers was approximately 46 percent.

By the end of the 2018 fiscal year, he also predicted that 60 percent of Epson Thailand’s revenue would come from business customers, as opposed to 40 percent from consumers, whilst printers would constitute roughly 80 percent of revenue. Revenue growth in Thailand is expected to be approximately 5 percent, whilst that from the international market, including Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Pakistan, could reach 15 percent.
