The printing segment of the OEM is doing well, accordingly to newly-released financial data.

HP Inc has published its financial results for the first quarter of 2018, with the OEM reporting positive news, particularly for its printing segment.

Net revenue in Q1 is up 14 percent from the same period last year, reaching $14.5 billion (€11.8 billion). In 2017, the quarter’s net revenue was $13.9 billion (€11.3 billion). As well as rising overall, net revenue went up in each major region worldwide, with increases of 10 percent in the Americas, 19 percent in the Asia Pacific region, and 17 percent in EMEA.

Solely looking at HP’s printing segment, the news was also good: Revenue increased by 14 percent also, taking the total to $5.1 billion (€4.1 billion), whilst operating profit reached $801 million (€651.5 million). The revenue was broken down in a company presentation, which showed 21 percent of revenue came from commercial hardware a 73 percent increase on the year before, with 13 percent from consumer hardware, and the remaining 66 percent coming from supplies – up 7 percent and 10 percent respectively.

The printing segment therefore contributed 35 percent of the OEM’s overall net revenue, and 70 percent of its total non-GAAP operating profit, which was $1.1 billion (€894.7 million).
