The OEM is currently appearing at HIMSS 2018 from 5-9 March 2018 to demonstrate solutions for the healthcare market that will help transform document workflow processes.

Canon U.S.A., Inc. is exhibiting at HIMSS 2018 (#6237) from March 5th to 9th 2018 at the Venetian-Palazzo Sands Expo Centre in Las Vegas, Nevada. Demos of well-suited solutions for the healthcare market that can be utilised with compatible MFPs will be available at the booth. Solutions include the Nuance eCopy software, which can integrate with Epic software and focuses on automating the patient intake process, as well as the uniFLOW software platform that can integrate with Hyland OnBase software.

Additionally, presentations from customers and industry experts will offer insight as to how end users can utilize Canon solutions to help transform communication designed for improved patient record keeping in a clinical setting. The sessions will further discuss how the HIPAA HITECH Omnibus final rules may affect how organisations in the healthcare field capture, transmit, receive, maintain, retain, collaborate and destroy information.

“Healthcare is on the cusp of transformation, with shifting regulations and rising costs challenging professionals to modify processes but maintain efficiency,” says Toyotsugu Kuwamura, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “Recognising these challenges, Canon leverages its leadership in imaging technology and document management to assist healthcare providers in effectively communicating.”

Despite rising electronic health record (EHR) adoption rates, many healthcare organisations still rely on paper reports. Canon solutions can help healthcare providers automate paper-based workflows. Integration of optional scanning solutions, such as uniFLOW Capture or Nuance eCopy solutions, with compatible MFPs can allow users to scan important documents, including lab test results, consult notes, and historical records, into the EHR for quick access. In addition, Canon’s partnerships with Box and mxHero enable healthcare organisations that have a compatible MFP along with these solutions (each sold separately) to share information, and collaborate, using the many security features available from Box from the compatible MFP.

Canon provides software solutions that can help users control how information is transmitted, received, maintained and shared throughout the patient’s continuity of care, from inpatient to ambulatory settings.

Notably, the refreshed imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform features some previously optional security capabilities as standard to help healthcare staff in the handling of sensitive documents; this is a critical feature for healthcare environments, where storage of privileged information is common. The models will offer cloud-based functionality, including authentication, dashboard reporting, basic scan-to-cloud features when activated.

Controlling print costs in a paper-intensive environment can be challenging. Optional uniFLOW software can help with an aspect of an organisation’s security efforts, as well as address interoperability, gain visibility into data analysis, track individual output activities, enable staff to print while using security features, help reduce IT overhead, and help improve business’ sustainability by reducing paper waste to improve environmental performance and automating scan workflows.
