Landfill sites propound pollution problems

As Clover Imaging Group reveals, landfill sites are a troubling and largely needless cause of soil pollution.

The remanufacturer has released an infographic, explaining how landfills are among the biggest contributors to soil pollution; a problem that is largely avoidable, as 80 percent of the waste found in landfills could be recycled.

CIG also explains that it has a zero-landfill policy, and has done for years.

Sustainability, waste and recycling are watchwords commonly found in news headlines these days, with society becoming increasingly aware of the detrimental impact our waste products are having on the environment. Organisations and businesses across the world, such as Cartridges 4 Planet Ark, Close the Loop, CIG, Lego and ECS have all taken steps to improve recycling rates, while countries like the UK are currently grappling with the issue of plastic waste, particularly in light of China’s recent import ban.

Meanwhile a Circular Economy package has been agreed upon by the EU, but there has been criticism over the slow pace of its implementation among certain member states.
