The Tennessee supplier has claimed the annual Minority Supplier of the Year title for the third time.

Guy Brown LLC, the Brentwood-based office products and MPS supplier, has been named Minority Supplier of the Year at the TriState Minority Supplier Development Council’s annual Impact Awards last month, the third time it has won the award.

The awards celebrate “excellence in the community”, and reward members and affiliates for their “outstanding achievement in business development and collaboration,” and are dispensed by the TSMSDC, a Nashville-based not-for-profit organisation which aims to expand the impact of minority-owned businesses across Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

“As an active member in the TriState Minority Supplier Development Council and the MWBE community, it is truly an honour to be recognised once again as the TSMSDC Supplier of the Year,” said Guy Brown’s CEO, Tera Vazquez. “We greatly appreciate our customers that rely on the goods and services we provide, and we value our professional affiliation with the TSMSDC as well as recognise our associates internally who have worked so hard to make Guy Brown the successful company it is today.”

Guy Brown, which started life in 1997 selling remanufactured toner cartridges, serves customers from SMBs to the Fortune 500, and is a certified Woman Owned Small Business, as well as a Minority Women Business Enterprise and a Small Disadvantaged Business. Since 2007, it has supported the TSMSDC Education Foundation, which provides assistance and support to at-risk students to pursue higher education, and which has provided nearly $2 million (€1.7 million) in scholarship assistance to over 300 students since 1993.

“I believe in the power of education, and supporting the TSMSDC Education Foundation is an important part of our membership,” explained Vazquez, whose company has contributed over $150,000 (€129,000) to the Foundation in the last ten years. “If we can help some extremely well-deserving teens, we are investing in the future of our community and ultimately society as a whole.”
