Fuji Xerox appoints Visentin to Board

The OEM, a joint project between Xerox and Fujifilm, has revealed that it has appointed the new Xerox CEO to its Board of Directors.

As the Nikkei Asian Review reports, Jon Visentin, the Carl Icahn-backed executive and current CEO of Xerox, is now also a member of the Fuji Xerox board of directors. This manoeuvre on the part of Fuji Xerox “will likely impact the outcome of the feud with Icahn and Deason”, both of whom are currently “pressuring Xerox to abandon a $6.1 billion takeover by Fujifilm.”

Fujifilm’s CEO, Shigetaka Komori, has said that Xerox has six months in which to accept the deal.

As well as naming Visentin to its board, Fuji Xerox has also promoted Deputy President Kouichi Tamai to President, as a replacement for Hiroshi Kurihara, who will stay on in a special advisory role.

Tamai was responsible for salvaging Fujifilm’s “failing operations”; his current task is now to “resolve” the conflict with Xerox over the proposed deal and to “put the venture back on the path to growth.”

Both Visentin and Tamai are slated to take on their new roles following Fuji Xerox’s meetings of both shareholders and the board, which will take place on 20 June 2018.
