Epson launches pay-as-you-go print service

The OEM’s new partnership with Network Group will offer the United Kingdom’s first pay-as-you-go service, powered by Epson’s ReadyInk technology.

The service, 360ink, is described as a “hassle-free service”, which will make sure that customers “never run out of ink again.” When ink levels become low, the user will receive a notification, which will itself begin the process of ordering a new cartridge automatically.

According to the OEM, “the technology was developed to address customers’ ever-changing printing needs,” based on data suggesting that “consumers are increasingly favouring inkjet printing, over laser, to meet their printing requirements.”

360ink works by allowing Epson to monitor registered customers’ ink usage and sharing the information gathered with Network Group, allowing the new cartridge to be ordered as soon as the customer is notified that their ink is low. The service will apply to “the great majority” of Epson’s printers released after April 2013; printers simply need to be registered with Epson’s ReadyInk programme, which launched last year.

Customers can register on the 360ink portal, and are only charged when a new cartridge is needed, with no monthly contracted payments.

“Giving users what they want and need is at the heart of everything we do – and by working with Network Group to deliver this programme, we can ensure that users have a continuous supply of genuine ink and encounter no interruptions of service,” explained Mauro Bartoletti, Epson Europe’s European Head of Retail.

“With great support from Epson’s UK and European teams, and our relentless ambition as a business to be first to market in the UK, businesses and homes across the UK can now get access to ‘peace of mind, pay-as-you-go printing’ from 360ink powered by Epson ReadyInk,” added Phylip Morgan, Network Group Managing Director.
