MPS in India: why business is booming

Some high-profile figures from the country’s biggest print vendors have been revealing why MPS is so important in India.

According to Leo Joseph, Senior Director of Printing Systems at HP India, digitisation is “important”, due to “the whole Digital India approach and focus in the country.” He revealed to CRN that HP is “working closely with a lot of government departments, ministries, high courts and public-sector banks to convert every physical document into digital.”

He explains that MPS is currently the OEM’s “biggest priority”, with security being a crucial area of focus as CIOs and CXOs focus on protecting their infrastructure. HP takes a “3D approach”, consisting of Data, Devices and Documents, and Joseph explains they “keep the device secure with a security solution.”

He goes on to say that HP’s MPS business is growing rapidly, and they have garnered a “lot of enterprise accounts” as well as offering “regular training, enablement and business planning with partners.”

He concludes by stating that when “customers move from a disparate or managed printer infrastructure to managed print services, the savings can be anywhere in the range of 15 percent to 20 percent.”

Meanwhile, Manish Garg of WeP Solutions Ltd comments that the MPS market in India currently remains “under explored” despite the fact that the nation “is one of the fastest growing global markets in the sector.”

He says, “The majority of MPS commitments come from mid-market to enterprise levels of accounts”, but small and medium enterprises are also opening up towards the innovative ideas of cost reduction and are now considered a potential market in India for MPS.”

Garg revealed that MPS currently contributes “52 percent” to the overall business of WeP Solutions, which recently signed a deal with an Israeli-based ePaper and is the only organisation in India to offer solutions powered by Sentinel.

Also speaking to CRN, Xerox India’s Managing Director, Raj Kumar Rishi, stated that the MPS market in India “has evolved over the past few years”, with organisations becoming “more open to outsourcing non-core business processes.” He explains that Xerox has helped companies “transition from an ad-hoc un-managed print environment to a managed environment” as well as guiding them toward “business process transformation.”

He goes on to reveal that MPS “is a major contributor to the Xerox India business”, with the OEM recording double digit growth in this sector. According to Rishi, Xerox boasts an “elaborate MPS channel”, designed to benefit both end clients and partners.

He concludes by saying that the company is increasing its market coverage “to make MPS available to organisations so that they can realise business benefits”.
