Latest HP video explains access control

Part 6 of HP’s Video Series takes a look at the importance of having access control on your multifunction printers.

In the video, Howard Roberts – Print Technologist at HP Inc. – elaborates on the four ‘A’s’ of device access; namely, Authentication, Authorisation, Accounting and Auditing.

As Roberts states, the majority of single user devices require authentication before they can access their designated network; however, multifunction printers often require no authentication whatsoever, resulting in potential security issues.

Roberts says, “It is critically important that authentication is enabled on a device which is connected to an organisation’s document repositories or has the capability to scan to external recipients through email or fax.”

In his next video in the series, Roberts will cover endpoint security software and why it cannot solely be relied upon to protect our devices.
