Amazon tackles American e-waste

The online retailer participated in America Recycles Day on 15 November 2018, hosting electronics collection events in 4 cities across the country.

As the company explained, almost 100 percent of e-waste is recyclable but the majority is either incinerated or sent to landfill, where it goes on to create both human and environmental issues.

To tackle this growing problem, Amazon called on people to “dig up those old electronics” and head to their local event to drop them off the items. At each location Amazon had an Amazon Treasure Truck “to thank you for doing your part to protect our planet”.

Amazon was scheduled to host the event in 5 cities but had to cancel the San Jose event due to poor air quality.
