Europol has announced the seizure of 33,654 domain names from 26 countries, in partnership with the American Intellectual Property Protection Office, local authorities and Interpol.

As NU.nl reports, these domain names, which were used to sell counterfeit goods, were seized as part of Operation In Our Sites.

All of those involved have been collaborating for the last 4 years to battle the sale of counterfeit products online. Last year alone, Europol confiscated over 20,520 domain names.

During the operation, twelve suspects were arrested, and Europol has seized criminal bank accounts containing over €1 million.
