Kyocera SA revisits 2018

The OEM’s South African division has been reflecting on the twelve months just finished, which it calls “a tough year for most South African companies.”

Beginning its reminiscence with a quote from Socrates – “the unexamined life is not worth living” – the company has acknowledged several victories throughout the course of 2018, according to IT Online.

“Perfectionists tend to agonise about where and how things went wrong, instead of embracing challenges as par for the course and opportunities for improvement,” declared Sharon Peché, Marcom Manager at Kyocera South Africa. “Often the good is not acknowledged enough. But the leaders at Kyocera Document Solutions South Africa have agreed that the wins, no matter how small, are fuel for greater morale, cooperation and hard work. For this reason, we acknowledge our victories in what was a tough year for most South African companies.”

Among the victories, Peché listed the company’s various award wins, including Service Technician Christiaan Pelser’s triumph in the Kyocera Global Service Awards, which is the latest in a long line of “multiple top 3 spots over the last 12 years.”

Kyocera SA has also achieved two new certifications in 2018: ISO 14001:2015, and 27001:2017, recognising the OEM’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, and its data security best practices, respectively. The company also continued its fruitful partnership with Soweto-based training and skills development hub Potters House, whilst also welcoming the official appointment of Werner Engelbrecht as General Manager: “He has steered us successfully through the many changes and challenges this year,” said Peché.

Other highlights of Kyocera SA’s annus mirabilis were receiving the Buyer’s Lab (BLI) award for Most Reliable Colour Copier MFP brand, and its inaugural appearance at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo in Cape Town, which Peché says “reaffirmed Kyocera’s position as a serious player in the solutions provider market, over and above the successful hardware positioning that we continue to enjoy.”

Peché concluded the lookback with a nod to the company’s founding father: “KDZA’s founder, Dr. Inamori, credited the company’s success to the fact that the operation is based on employees sharing the same aspirations and mindset, instead of the more common vertical relationship of power and authority. I couldn’t agree more.”

“This philosophy will carry us through to 2019 and beyond,” Peché added.
