Still running Windows 7?

Microsoft is stopping the support for Windows 7 in six months, by 14 January 2020.

As Softpedia reports, launched in 2009, Windows 7 is still rated as the second most-used operating system on desktop computers. The majority of support was already withdrawn by January 2015, except for devices that had the Service Pack 1 installed.

Support was still provided for Windows 7 Service Pack 1, and security updates were still provided. This is now being discontinued, meaning this version of the operating system is “officially listed as retired, meaning that no patches would continue to be offered to devices running it.”

Softpedia does report though that “companies and organizations worldwide can purchase custom support for Windows 7, with Microsoft servicing computers still running the OS based on a fee per each PC.”
