Konica Minolta records fallen revenues

The company has announced its first quarter results which ended on 30 June 2019.

In its records, Konica Minolta showed that in the first quarter the Group recorded revenues of ¥241.7 billion ($2.23 billion/ €1.99 billion), a decrease of 5.3 percent year-on-year.

The OEM explained that US-China trade friction, a slowdown in the Chinese economy, and continuing uncertainties in the European economy are restraining investment activities of customers, and a weak euro led to a decline in revenue in the Office Business, the Professional Print Business, and the Industrial Business.

Revenue in the Healthcare Business remained at the same level as in the same period in the previous fiscal year. Revenue in the new businesses increased, primarily in the bio-healthcare field.

Operating profit fell significantly to ¥0.5 billion ($4.6 million/ €4.1 million), a decrease of 96.4 percent year-on-year.

The Office Business Development segment which includes the manufacture, and sales of MFPs and related consumables and provision of related solutions and services, recorded revenue of ¥134.5 billion ($1.24 billion/ €1.11 billion), a decrease of 6.2 percent year-on-year, and operating profit of ¥7.6 billion ($69.99 million/ €62.80 million), a decrease of 17 percent year-on-year.

In the office products business unit, the sales volume of A3 MFPs declined year-on-year in both colour and monochrome models. There was a significant growth in the sales volume, mainly for the high-speed models, in the same period in the previous year.

The Professional Print Business segment which includes development, manufacture, and sales of digital printing systems and related consumables and the provision of various printing services, solutions, and services, segment recorded revenue of ¥50.6 billion ($466 million/ €418 million), a decrease of 5.2 percent year-on-year, and operating profit of ¥1.0 billion ($9.21 million/ €8.26 million), a decrease of 37.2 percent year-on-year.
