Brother reports Q1 2020 results

The OEM has reported its financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending 31 March 2020.

Brother reported a total revenue of ¥159.23 billion ($1.49 billion/ €1.34 billion) which is a decrease of 6.9 percent on the same period of the previous fiscal year. Overall operating profits for the quarter are down 13.8 percent to ¥17.64 billion ($166.03 million/ €148.43 million).

Brother’s Printing & Solutions business segment which includes its Printers, All-in-Ones, Labelling Systems, Label Printers, Scanners, etc. reported revenues of ¥98.19 billion ($924.24 million/ €826.27 million), slightly down from the previous corresponding period where Brother recorded ¥99.45 billion ($936.1 million/ €836.86 million). Operating profit was up for the segment compared to the previous corresponding period and was ¥16.44 billion ($154.75 million/ €138.35 million) compared to ¥14.86 billion ($139.88 million/ €125.05 million) previously.

Basic earnings per share in the first quarter were down at ¥49.55 ($0.46/ €0.42) compared to ¥63.79 ($0.60/ €0.54) in the previous corresponding period.
