Entitled “Which one is right for me?” Static Control discusses the importance of matching the page yields of cartridges with the printing needs of the business or individual.
In its blog piece, Static Control talks about the three most common types of OEM cartridges found in laser and ink printers that are known as introductory, standard and high yield cartridges. Each cartridge has a different page yield which influences “figuring out which solution is right for your application”.
Describing the different types, “an introductory/starter cartridge” is described are cartridges that are “meant to get you printing out-of-the-box” with a smaller hopper and therefore a smaller capacity for toner or ink and less pages that can be printed.
Talking about standard cartridges, Static stated that “standard cartridges are the most common in the printer market”. With a larger hopper they allow for more toner and ink which means more pages can be printed. Static said: “Standard cartridge page yields and price are often 40-50 percent less than high yield offerings and depending on usage, may be more cost beneficial.”
High yield cartridges allow for even more prints due to their even larger hoppers which hold more toner or ink. The blog describes these cartridges to be “for individuals or organisations who print lots of pages, a high yield cartridge offers a lower cost-per-page but command a steeper front price. Most printers are able to accommodate higher yield cartridges without modification as they will fit into standard cartridge slots.”
Even higher page yields can be achieved through a “unique solution that is only available from the aftermarket”, the extended yield cartridge. “. This can be achieved through a high efficiency toner or ink, or modifications to the cartridge. These solutions are ideal for print-heavy office environments or for MPS providers,” Static said.
The blog piece continues to explain how to differentiate the different types and talks about the importance of “different businesses require different needs” and how “calculating cost on a per-page basis versus overall usage is a good start at evaluating which solution is right for your application”.
