Piezoelectric Inkjet Technology
Piezoelectric inkjet technology is less common in consumer-grade printers but is often used in industrial and commercial applications where higher print volumes and specialised requirements are necessary. This technology utilises piezoelectric crystals to eject ink droplets from the print head.
Here’s how it works:
Ink Cartridges: Like thermal inkjet printers, piezoelectric inkjet printers also use ink cartridges containing multiple colour inks.
Piezoelectric Crystals: The print head in piezoelectric inkjet printers consists of piezoelectric crystals attached to the back of each ink nozzle. These crystals change shape when an electric current is applied to them.
Ink Ejection: When a print command is given, the printer applies an electric pulse to the piezoelectric crystals. This causes them to deform, generating pressure that expels tiny droplets of ink from the print head onto the paper.
