AGCM introduces platform for whistleblowing

Through a new platform on the Authority’s website, the whistleblower will be able to send information on anti-competitive conduct and on the people involved while remaining anonymous.

The Italian Competition and Market Authority (AGCM), following the best practices of the European Commission and numerous national competition authorities, has introduced its own whistleblowing platform on its website.

From now on, people in possession of confidential information on competition violations will be able to interface with the investigation offices without having to reveal their identity.

The platform, through an encrypted system, guarantees the whistleblower who wishes to remain anonymous the possibility of establishing a direct line with the Authority by sending information regarding anti-competitive conduct, the circumstances that produced it and the people involved. For example, it will be possible to report news of secret agreements on product prices, on the division of markets and on boycotts of competitors.

With this instrument, the Antitrust Authority aims to increase the fight against secret cartels, which are increasingly difficult to discover, and to strengthen the fight against conduct that violates the rules for the protection of competition by encouraging the collaboration of subjects who, also due to their proximity to companies involved, do not want to reveal their identity.

The web address is https://www.agcm.it/servizi/whistleblowing.
