ARMOR presents mobile recharge station

The Nantes-based company recently announced it had won the call for proposals for a smartphone recharging station, issued by Engie.

As a result, ARMOR was able to offer its new mobile recharge station for use at the French Open 2018, which concluded on 10 June 2018.

The photovoltaic station was developed following calls in late 2017 by Engie for a mobile recharging station to be used during the tennis tournament this year. Engie was seeking a partner “able to offer an innovative solution for recharging the smartphones of spectators”, and ARMOR’s proposal fit the bill.

The smartphone photovoltaic recharge station was created using a dome covered in ARMOR’s ASCA organic photovoltaic film, which “captures and transforms solar energy, recharging external batteries.”

These small format batteries are then hired out to spectators who can use them to charge their smartphones on the move between courts.

ARMOR’s ASCA film is 100 percent recyclable, according to the company, and contains no rare or toxic components. It has been designed to be lightweight and flexible, “enabling it to adapt easily to any type of substrate” and is a “low-carbon solution thanks to the very low energy requirements of the production process.”

ARMOR’s President and Director General, Hubert de Boisredon, said that he was “happy and proud” of ARMOR’s achievement, going on to state, “It will be a source of hope for the energy transition and the millions of people in the world, in particular in Africa, Asia and Latin America, that have no access to the electricity today.”
