Brother saw revenue increases although it continued to battle with rising logistics, parts and material costs.

In FY2021, Brother recorded sales revenue of ¥710.9 billion ($5.48 billion/ €5.19 billion), a 12.5% year-on-year increase. For the Printing & Solutions business segment, Brother recorded sales revenue of ¥424.2 billion ($3.3 billion/ €3.1 billion).

In its review of the results Brother said that all business segments were impacted by “soaring transportation costs” and “difficulty in procurement of parts and materials, as well as soaring prices of parts and materials”. It also saw plant shut downs and declines in operating rates due to the spread COVID-19.

In its Printing & Solutions business segment the company saw “increased demand for small-size all-in-ones and printers due to the prevalence of working and studying from home” but experienced “delays in production and supply in the overall market” and “continuing inventory shortages”.

On the premise that the global economy is gradually normalising from the impact of COVID-19, Brother forecasts sales revenue of ¥775 billion ($5.83 billion/ €5.53 billion) for FY2022.
