The company announced it is updating the protective hologram on its ink and toner cartridges this year.

The updated holograms will appear on all Brother Genuine ink cartridges, ink bottles, toner cartridges and drum units.

Brother explained that the updated hologram, which will link directly to an official authentication website, will ensure that customers can easily identify genuine Brother products from counterfeits. The company added that the new design will also help to minimise the risk of fraudsters reusing genuine holograms on counterfeit products.

Isao Noji, Managing Director at Brother International Europe LTD said: “Protecting our customers is of the upmost importance to everyone at Brother, and we hope this updated hologram will reassure customers and ensure they are able to confidently identify if products are genuine or not. When we design our supplies not only do we ensure that they are designed to deliver optimum results with our hardware, but we also make them safe, something that is not guaranteed when purchasing counterfeit goods.”

Mr Noji added: “Using counterfeit cartridges can damage your Brother machine, and compromise its efficiency, reliability, and longevity, so it is essential that we do everything we can to help customers identify when a cartridge is a Brother Genuine. As well as an update to the authentication link, the new holograms will feature an updated design so we urge our customers to look out for this, and to check that the product is genuine if in any doubt.”

Customers can expect to see the new hologram on Genuine Brother products from June 2023 onwards.
