Brother’s CO2 reduction targets approved

The OEM has become the Chubu Region’s first company to have its emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative.

The mid-term targets for reducing emissions of carbon dioxide, as set out in its Brother Group Environmental Vision 2050, have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative, an international environmental initiative, as properly science-based aims for achieving the goal of bringing global warming below 2 degrees Celsius, as set by the Paris Agreement on climate change.

Brother’s mid-term targets were based on the view that “worsening worldwide climate change is a serious social challenge,” as well as “a business risk”, and that as an issue, climate change must be addressed “continuously.”

The targets were expanded to include emissions from Brother’s value chain, which contributes more than 90 percent of the OEMs total emissions, as well as those from office activities.

“The Brother Group will take various approaches continuously to contribute to resolving global environmental issues towards the establishment of a sustainable society,” the company declared.
