Canon and its Amazon removals history

While Canon announced two more removals requested from Amazon.com, it tallies up its current counts over a period of about a year requesting removals from Amazon.

Canon Inc. announced the filing of an infringement report with Amazon.com seeking removal of Amazon.com listings for certain toner cartridges sold by ABCink for use in HP laser beam printers.

Canon’s infringement report alleged that certain model HP 126A toner cartridges sold by ABCink via Amazon.com infringed Canon’s U.S. Patent No. 8,688,008. Canon requested that Amazon remove ABCink listings for those products, namely, ABCink listings with Amazon Standard Identification Numbers (“ASINs”) B07DXHCK2Z, B07RZSCQHK and B07RZS9V7Y.

At the time of this announcement, the above-identified ABCink listings were no longer available on Amazon.com.

Canon also announced the filing of an infringement report with Amazon.com seeking removal of Amazon.com listings for certain toner cartridges sold by JSL GO for use in HP laser beam printers.

Canon’s infringement report alleged that certain model HP 126A toner cartridges sold by JSL GO via Amazon.com infringed Canon’s U.S. Patent No. 8,688,008. Canon requested that Amazon remove JSL GO listings for those products, namely, JSL GO listings with Amazon Standard Identification Numbers (“ASINs”) B01L16ANF8, B01L16A7MC, B01L16AR8G, B01L16BJBK, B01L16ACC2, B01L16EG8S, B01L16EN5Y, B01L1699YY, B01L16ATYS, B01L169C82 and B01L16ASLC.

At the time of this announcement, the above-identified JSL GO listings were no longer available on Amazon.com.

Counting its total, Canon announced that over approximately one year, it has used the Amazon Reporting Tool or letters of inquiry to successfully remove 1,153 ASINs from Amazon in Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom offering third-party laser toner cartridges from 141 vendors based on one or more of European Patent No. 2 087 407 and European Patent No. 1 977 289.

For the US Amazon site, Canon counted over the same period, it has used Amazon takedown procedures to report infringement based on 122 ASINs, all of which now have been removed from Amazon.com. The ASINs offered third-party laser toner cartridges from 15 vendors, which Canon believes infringe one or more of U.S. Patent No. 8,280,278, U.S. Patent No. 8,630,564, U.S. Patent No. 8,682,215, U.S. Patent No. 8,688,008, U.S. Patent No. 8,676,090 and U.S. Patent No. 8,588,646.
