Canon files more infringement reports

The OEM’s ongoing legal conquest has continued, with the company seeking the removal of products from both Amazon, and its Spanish subsidiary.

Canon filed two infringement reports with Amazon.es, on cartridges offered for sale by Maria Carmen García Fornet, and GOLDAN COLOR S.L.U. The infringing products were compatible with the OEM HP cartridge model CF226X, and provide inter alia a non-OEM coupling member, a non-OEM drum as well as a non-OEM housing.

Canon claimed that they violated the Spanish portion of its European Patent, EP 2 087 407.

Both infringing products were then removed from sales by Amazon.es, which also notified the vendors, who maintain the right to object.

Canon also filed a similar report with Amazon.com, seeking the removal of listings of toner cartridges for use in HP laser beam printers, which were offered for sale by Carlos Imaging.

The OEM claimed that the HP 126A toner cartridges in question violated its patent, US Patent No. 8,688,008. Presently, the aforementioned products are no longer available for sale on the e-commerce platform.

“Throughout the development, sales and marketing process, Canon respects the intellectual property of other companies and individuals and expects others to similarly respect Canon’s intellectual property rights,” the OEM declared in a statement. “Canon remains committed to pursuing legal enforcement against those who do not respect Canon’s intellectual property.”
