Canon Oceania offers environmental grants

As part of its commitment to Canon’s company ethos of ‘Kyosei’ – working for the common good – Canon Oceania is offering $30,000 (US$22, 714/€19, 305) of environmental grants.

As ChannelLife reports, the OEM’s 2018 Grants Programme is open for nominations, and is pledging over $30,000 (US$22, 714/€19, 305) worth of grants, consisting of both money and Canon equipment, in both Australia and New Zealand. The recipient of each grant will receive “$5,000 (US$3, 785/€3, 217) in total made up of $4,000 (US$3, 027/€2, 573) worth of product and $1,000 (US$756/€643) of cash.”

The programme has been operational for the past 12 years, benefitting over 70 schools and organisations by raising more than $360,000 (US$272, 228/€231, 693) “to further their causes and affect meaningful environmental, educational and societal change.”

However, this year, things will be a little different, as this is the first time the wider community will be able to vote on the finalists in each sector.

Winners are selected according to the “positive impact their project will have on their environment or community, as well as the importance of technology for the project’s success.”

“Each year we are inspired by the hard work, dedication, and selflessness of the schools and not-for-profit groups who apply for the grants,” says Canon Oceania Managing Director Dave Yoshida.

“It is our great pleasure to give these organisations a helping hand and we encourage anyone, who fits the criteria, to apply. The programme is one of the many ways we have been giving back to the community; something that is intrinsic to the way we operate across the globe.”

Nominations for the Programme are open from 5 June – 19 June 2018, and nominees will have to submit detailed submissions regarding their projects between 20 June and 20 July 2018.

The grant winners will be revealed in September, after voting takes place in August.
