Canon has changed the Pixma photo value pack that now contains less ink and has a 10% price increase.
Eagle-eyed readers are reporting a subtle change to the Canon Pixma photo value blister pack that now contains less ink and has a 10% price increase.
The popular value pack used to contain one Canon 540XL monochrome cartridge that contains 21ml of ink and would print up to 600 pages. The colour cartridge is a Canon 541XL colour cartridge that contains 15ml of inks will print up to 400 pages. The blister pack is completed with the addition of 50 sheets of photo paper. The blister pack retailed online for €50.25 ($50.32).
In the new Canon Pixma photo value blister pack the Canon 540XL monochrome cartridge (600 pages) has been replaced with one 540L monochrome cartridge that contains only 11ml of ink and would print up to 300 pages. The new version of the photo value pack still contains one Canon 541XL colour cartridge (400 pages), plus 50 sheets of photo paper. The blister pack retailed online for €55.99 ($56.06).
Our take on this: Less ink and a higher price seems a bit sharp to us and putting less ink in a cartridge just rips off the consumer. Is it too presumptuous to suggest this practice is hardly sustainable, however you look at it.
