Canon reviews Amazon takedown numbers

The OEM has reported results of its third quarter removal request activity on Amazon in major markets.

Canon Inc. announced that in about the third quarter of 2020, it has used the Amazon Reporting Tool and/or letters of inquiry to successfully remove 12 listings from Amazon in Australia. Since September 2019, the total number of listings removed is 179. The listings offered third-party laser toner cartridges which Canon believes infringed one or more of Australian Patent Nos. 2014208277 and 2007205464.

Canon also announced that in the third quarter of 2020, it has used the Amazon Reporting Tool, letters of inquiry and/or information letters to successfully remove 2,762 listings from Amazon in Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and France. Since June 2018, the total number of listings removed from Amazon in Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, France and Turkey is 9,170. The listings offered third-party laser toner cartridges from vendors which Canon believes infringed one or more of European Patent No. 2 087 407 and European Patent No. 1 977 289.

Furthermore, Canon announced that in the third quarter of 2020, it has used Amazon takedown procedures to report infringement based on 305 listings, all of which now have been removed from Amazon in Canada and the United States of America. Since June 2018, the total number of listings removed from Amazon in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America is 2,166.

The listings offered third-party laser toner cartridges from vendors which Canon believes infringed one or more of U.S. Patent No. 8,280,278, U.S. Patent No. 8,630,564, U.S. Patent No. 8,682,215, U.S. Patent No. 8,688,008, U.S. Patent No. 8,676,090, U.S. Patent No. 8,588,646, U.S. Pat. No. 9,581,958, Canadian Patent No. 2,635,791, Canadian Patent No. 2,910,527, Mexican Patent No. 308881 and Mexican Patent No. 317598.
