The ChipStation is a firmware upgrade manager that end users can use to upgrade chips themselves after a firmware update has been issued by an OEM.
The frequency of OEM firmware upgrade is increasing year-on-year, as there are over a thousand OEM firmware upgrades issued from 2019 to 2020. Main methods include online upgrades, timed upgrade, upgrade triggered by consumables and new factory firmware.
