Thanks to an Australian resource recovery and recycling company, Close the Loop, it is now possible to landscape your garden and help the environment by using recycled printing consumables.
Close the Loop, which is a partner of Cartridges 4 Planet Ark and its participating OEM manufacturers, which include Brother, Epson and HP, “is driven by a promise of zero-waste-to-landfill” and has come up with several initiatives and products to help it achieve this goal.
Among these initiatives is eWood Gardens, owned by Newtecpoly, which is described as “a functional and sustainable replacement material for timber, concrete, brick and steel which can be used for garden beds, flooring and more.”
eWood’s garden beds are created using recycled printer cartridges, with a single tiered raised garden containing approximately 100 cartridges. So far, eWood Gardens “have purchased around 10 tonnes of recycled printer cartridge material from Close the Loop for eWood production.”
Close the Loop has also been responsible for the development of TonerPave, “a low-carbon road surface” produced in collaboration with Downer EDI, as well as TonerSealTM, which is made from “20 percent recycled waste toner and used tyre rubber.”
